American Walk-in Tubs designs all products to provide you with many years of enjoyment and relaxation. Built with durable acrylic and gelcoat material, your walk-in tub will avoid discoloration and provide years of reliable service. We make sure to test every electrical component for safety and compliance to all safety codes and standards. Nothing leaves our factory unless it has been rigorously tested and inspected to ensure your ultimate safety and peace of mind.
To keep this wonderful walk-in tub working efficiently and effectively, you’ll want to make sure that it gets its regular care and cleaning.
You may use Epsom salts in moderation while bathing, but make sure to rinse your tub thoroughly afterwards.
Treat it gently. Do not ever use wire brushes, steel wool, or other abrasive tools or cleansers. Remember that it is built for comfort and relaxation, so you don’t want to cause it any harm. At the end of each bath, use warm water to rinse all surfaces with the wand. Once a week, wash all of your tub’s surfaces using a mild solution of acrylic-friendly cleaner. Each month, purge and clean the tub’s entire system.
Avoid using bath oils of any kind as these can cause harm to your tub.
If body oils, bath oils, soap residue, etc. begin to build up on your tub’s surfaces, you can remove them with automatic dishwashing soap and a cup of bleach. Using warm water, fill your tub to a level just above the highest whirlpool jet. Mix a cup of bleach and a spoonful of automatic dishwashing soap into the water. Turn your system on, let it run for 15 minutes, and then drain the water. Now, refill the tub with warm water only. Let the system run for an additional 15 minutes. This will rinse out the plumbing. Drain the tub, use the shower wand to rinse off the surface, and then wipe with a soft clean cloth.
(NB: There is no need to touch any of the electrical components of your tub.)
When you gently care for your new walk-in tub, it will provide you with the safety, comfort, and therapeutic benefits you need for years to come.
